How PG E policy takes your electron burden from YOU for free

Say what?

Yes, this is what I heard California State Senator Cox argue on behalf of sparing PG&E from the cost of taking the energy YOU generate when you put up solar panels. In effect, the solar industry subsidizes PG&E!

Per Carla at Akeena Solar September 30, 2008, in California and a number of states, even though it may not be an actual sale, homeowners and businesses are credited any excess energy units against their accounts with local public utilities the retail value of what that energy unit would have cost them.

If the credit is not used by the end of a given year, the utility company will zero out any avaliable credit at the end of that year.
